Wisdom and Age

Something which has been bugging me for awhile now is wisdom. What exactly is wisdom composed of, and what's the best way to achieve it? Wikipedia seems to give a good definition: "Wisdom is a deep understanding and realization of people, things, events or situations, resulting in the ability to apply perceptions, judgements and actions in keeping with this understanding."

This implies one can gain wisdom through experience, aka age. But one thing that seems negatively correlated with wisdom is bias, prejudice, etc. Bias seems to be something gained with age. In other words, and old dog can't learn new tricks. I'm not sure how open an old mind can be, but it does make me wonder whether wisdom is  easily correlated with age or not. There are certainly wise and unwise old people.

Gaining wisdom should be something everyone seeks to do, but learning what that really means is more than half the battle.
